3 Tips for Disney World

Happy 2018! As the New Year begins, I was looking back on my 2017 memories and thinking about how lucky I was to have traveled as much as I did. In addition to  new places I had never been, such as Boston( read about it here!) , I went to Disney World 3 times! The happiest place on Earth certainly has had many articles written on it, but I thought I would share some tips and tricks that I have learned from visiting this year.

1.Be smart with Fast Passes

If you are someone that has been to Disney before, you are probably well acquainted with the wonders of Fast Passes. Essentially, you sign up for a time slot for a certain attraction and you don’t have to wait in line( thereby “passing” the people in line). So for example, you might have a Fast Pass for the Soarin’ ride at Epcot from 9-9:30. You can start booking Fast Passes 60 days out, and it is a good idea to book them then, as the more popular rides will fill up to the max with Fast Passes. In addition to booking at the right time, make sure you are booking the attractions that you will need a Pass for the most. For example, some rides, despite being popular, don’t take as long to get through a line, and you shouldn’t waste a Fast Pass on that attraction. Pick attractions with the longest wait times.

2. Snacking is key

The first time that I went to Disney this year we used the Disney Dining Plan, which we sort of regretted. While it might be really efficient for some families, and it DID allow for us to see many different resorts and parts of parks we wouldn’t have been to. It seemed that our meals took up a lot of time, which we could have been using to explore the parks, not to mention we were left with many snack credits at the end of the trip. So just do your research to see what dining plan is best for you- it can save you valuable time and money. Additionally, check the My Disney Experience app to see when counter services and other types of restaurants open. Fun fact: My friends and I spent about two hours waiting for a quick service in Mexico to open so that we could get churros…we found them though!

3. Don’t forget Disney Springs

I hadn’t been to Disney Springs before this year and my family and I were so surprised about how much it has changed. In addition restaurants, they have a variety of shops-some of which we have here in Indy like Sephora, but others such as Uniqlo and Lilly Pulitzer 🙂 Every night that we were at Disney Springs, someone was performing live music. 101/10 recommend checking out at least once while you are at Disney.

December Beauty Favorites

Hi friends! I hope everyone’s holiday season is going well! I was super happy to see some snow here just yesterday, and I hope tat it continues. While the winter weather is definitely beautiful, there is no doubt that winter comes with a slew of beauty issues. Personally, dry skin and hair is the biggest struggle, especially with swimming most days of the week. The products that I am talking about today are my favorites for the month and really help with combating winter beauty struggles 🙂

Freeman Face Masks

I picked up two of these face masks on Black Friday from Ulta( less than $3 each!) and have been really happy with both. My favorite is the clay mask pictured above, not only is it a BRIGHT blue, but it smells really good. The second mask that I bought was a peel off gel mask. The brand also carries different masks for specific needs, like acne or oily skin. I typically do each mask once a week 🙂

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo

Recently, I have been trying to wash my hair as a little as possible to keep it healthy. I have swimming at least 5 days a week so I wash it every swim day to get out the chlorine. Aside from that, this dry shampoo has been a lifesaver. I had previously tried out some of the more popular dry shampoo brands, but I hadn’t been getting the results that I wanted. This dry shampoo smells amazing, is easy to use and creates volume so your hair doesn’t look stringy and flat.

Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish

This drugstore brand nail polish reminds me a lot of OPI, my favorite brand. Their formula isn’t streaky and the brush is similar to OPI’s. These are two of my favorite shades, Haze of Love(left) and Private Viewing(right). They are both great for the holiday season and stay on pretty long.

Looking forward to more holiday posts!

3 “Spooky” Books for October

Hi friends! Today I am writing a post on some of my favorite books totally on a whim. I recently have been reading books for fun more, which is fantastic, because I never seem to be reading books as much as I want. And because Halloween is just in a few short days, I thought I would share some of my favorite fiction books!

  1. The Witches of New York

I was so glad that I found this book at one of those little libraries a few months ago. Despite the fact that I had been reading it for a long time, when I finished it earlier this week, I was surprised by how easy of a read I had been. The book centers around New York in 1880 and little tea shop owned by Adeline Thom and Eleanor St. Clair, the mysterious owners. I assume that this book is very easy to read in the span of a few days, but I read it over the course of a few months and had no trouble picking it after not having read it for awhile.

2. Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories

I’ve had this book for awhile now, but it would seem odd if I left it off the list of spooky books! Someone bought this for me awhile back when I was super obsessed with the BBC Sherlock series( I still sort of am…) and I loved being able to connect the book to the show. As itself, of course, the book is a classic and I hope that one day I am able to finish all of the stories! For now, I will continue slowly making my way through them. 🙂

3. Clockwork Angel

Cassandra Clare’s book series are some of my favorites. Her first series, the Mortal Instruments Series, focuses on a group called the Shadowhunters in the current time period. The Infernal Devices, on the other hand, are all set in Victorian England. It wouldn’t be too hard to start reading the Infernal Devices without reading the Mortal Instruments Series, but I think it will be more enjoyable to read if you have read all of them 🙂 The Clockwork Angel is the first in the Infernal Devices Series.

Hope y’all enjoyed my not-so-spooky book favorites and have a happy and safe Halloween!

Neutrogena SkinClearing Makeup!

**NOTE: I collaborated with Neutrogena for this post, and they sent me these products to review. All opinions are 100% mine 🙂

Hi friend! Today I am super excited to be sharing my thoughts on Neutrogena’s makeup that is specially formulated not only to hide skin imperfections, but also help treat and prevent breakouts. I got to try out three of their products that are part of the line: the SkinClearing Mineral Powder (my fave!), the SkinClearing Liquid Makeup, and the SkinClearing Blemish Concealer.

My favorite of the products is the mineral powder, which I will absolutely be using in my everyday makeup. It is perfect to wear on top of foundation and can easily be worn on it’s own for a sheerer look. I noticed that, just like the packaging says, my skin appeared less shiny at the end of the day. The finish is matte, especially when wearing full coverage

The foundation contains salicylic acid, which is essential to treating breakouts. I personally don’t wear foundation that often, but this seems to be very lightweight and perfect for everyday wear.

I absolutely loved using the concealer, which fully covers dark under eye circles. Also made with salicylic acid, the product is formulated to help prevent acne and cover skin imperfections. The applicator is also really precise which is a major plus 🙂

Neutrogena has a variety of shades to choose from, but 030 matches my skin the best.

ExperimenTIP: Try wearing all products a once as a flawless setting for your bold makeup ideas! With multiple holidays coming up, now is the perfect time to try out new looks!

Check out the Neutrogena website for more information!

Fall Outfits in Warm Weather

Hi friends! Is it just me or does it seem like fall has been taking awhile to get here this year? Usually I am excited for fall weeks before most people are and come the first day of fall, I am already wearing oversized cardigans and buying fall-scented candles. But for some reason this year, I have no been able to let go of summer! It just does not at all seem like fall yet to me, and that is probably because of the unusually warm weather in Indiana. Because I still want to wear all of fall clothes, its becoming a little bit of a challenge to figure out how to wear them in the Indy heat 🙂 Mixing rich, jewel tones, such as burgundy and deep green make it much easier to embrace the fall spirit without wearing bulky cardigans. Incorporating details like dainty jewelry keeps layered looks sleek.

Pretty little details( necklace)

As you can see, I was ecstatic about getting Starbucks.

Wishing you a perfectly chilly fall and looking forward to blogging more often this fall

Disclaimer: These samples were sent to me by Evian to review as a sponsored post, but all opinions are 100% mine. 🙂

Hi friends! This post is one of the first in my back-to-school series, so be sure to comment or directly email me if you have any suggestions for blog posts you would like to see! I have seen some posts on time management, note taking, organization, and school outfit ideas that I would love to write for y’all so expect some of those coming soon! I love the back-to-school season, buying school supplies is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. This year I started using the Evian facial spray to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day. It is in small spray bottle which makes it perfect to fit into a pencil case or purse for on the go hydration. Not only is it fun to use, the spray has multiple uses-from misting your hair to keep stray hairs in place, to reviving the color in your makeup throughout the day. I am also looking forward to using this spray while I am traveling in the next few weeks.

Why When Face Masks are the Best Face Masks for Sale

Disclaimer: These face masks were sent to me by When to review, but all opinions are 100% mine 🙂

Hi friends! Recently, I have been focusing more on skincare, rather than covering up the things I don’t like on my face with makeup. A product that it is super helpful in improving my skin and really relaxing to apply is a face mask! I have always used face masks, but When sheet masks are the best that I have ever used because of the high quality ingredients used(every mask has Ginseng Extract!) and the quality of the mask itself!

There is a When mask for basically every skin type/need and they each have different natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera Leaf Extract and Chamomile Flower Water. My personal favorite mask is he “Travelmate” mask, which rejuvenates your skin from harsh wind or direct sunlight( perfect for summer)! One of my favorite attributes about the When face masks are that they come with a sheet of paper and a sheet of film that sandwich the mask so it doesn’t get tangled and rip. Another quality that I adore about the When face masks are that they are completely soaked in the hydrating liquid, as opposed to some other face masks that I have used that don’t have enough liquid to coat your whole face.

Me after using my favorite face mask!

Check out http://whenmask.com/ for these amazing face masks!

Yellow and A Sunny Photo Shoot

Hi friends! Someone recently told me that Summer Break is over half-way over and it honestly feels like it just started. There are just some things that scream Summer: the smell of sunscreen, ice cream that starts melting RIGHT after it’s been scooped, and the color yellow. Any shade of yellow- whether it be a pale, lemonade color, to a florescent highlighter yellow, seems to represent Summer so well. My friends Grace, who takes gorgeous photos, snapped some beautiful pics of me in a yellow top with vintage sunniest, and I absolutely adore the photos. It was the most perfect day to take pictures, with hardly any clouds, a perfect Summer day.

Enjoy 🙂

New England Trip Photos

Hey guys! I’m so happy to show y’all the photos from my trip to New England this week! I had never been to the East Coast, so it was really exciting to check out the different stores and historical landmarks. If you have been following me on Instagram ( @inthelifeofminnie ), you may have seen some of the photos, but I’m going to share allllll of them on here.

We spend our first day in Boston, the second in Freeport, the third in Bar Harbor, and the last back in Boston( my favorite hahaha).

Day 1: Boston

The historical Paul Revere House was great for us because we wanted to learn something and see antique items without having to spend the whole day in a museum.

Paul Revere House

Alright so these AMAZING  cannolis were found in the North End, Boston’s Italian neighborhood with authentic stores and restaurants. We went to Mike’s Pastry(twice in 4 days… oops), but there were many cute cafĂ©s.

North End PS-The North End was my favorite part of the whole trip and I highly recommend going! This website has enough information for you to plan out your visit to the North End, but it was also exciting to wander around and find little shops on our own!

Mike’s Pastry

I AM Books I don’t have any pictures but we found this really cute Italian-American bookstore across from the Paul Revere House that sells everything from vegan, Italian cookbooks, to Children’s books in Italian. We went here twice on our visit 🙂

First Red Sox game I have ever been to! Unfortunately, it rained a little but they still were able to play a couple innings 🙂

Day 2: Freeport

We went on a tour of the Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory, which was relatively brief compared to other factory tours, but it had free samples so you can’t beat that 🙂

I was sooooo excited to go to the L.L.Bean store( it was three stories and had a coffee bar)!

Day 3: Bar Harbor

Photos from our boat nature tour 🙂

This lemon gingersnap ice cream was HEAVENLY

That’s about all in terms of photos 🙂

Chicago and ARTIC Mini trip

Hi friends! It’s been awhile since my last post, but I have a lot of exciting posts coming up soon for the blog, so be sure to check back on this website and my Instagram to make sure that you never miss any fun news! If you have already been following my Instagram, you probably saw that I went to Chicago a couple weekends ago. The main reason that I went was so that I could see Whistler’s Mother while it was still visiting Chicago(and maybe stop at Magnolia Bakery because it’s my obsession lol).

I tried to look like Blair Waldorf…

Fun fact: I always sit at the same table at Magnolia’s… it has a perfect view of the street and is great for people watching.

Right when I think that I have gotten accustomed to the beauty of Chicago… so beautiful <3

A few photos of some works that I hadn’t seen before and really caught my eye(you can find more info on all these at the artic.edu or contact me for specific details). I had a lot of fun on this trip to ARTIC and ventured out into some parts of the museum that I usually don’t visit. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the modern or contemporary wings, I really enjoyed the Islamic art section and looking at the beautiful textiles!

Me and my bestie, the South Lion.
